TSMC Will Produce 3Nm Chips In The Next Year

TSMC plans to start commercial production of 3nm process chips in the fourth quarter of 2022. Apple is expected to release its first electronic products with 3-nanometer chips made by TSMC in 2023, including Macs with M3 chips and iPhone 15 series smartphones with A17 chips. The advanced process technology of chips will enable Macs and iPhones to have faster processing speeds and longer battery life in the future.


It was reported that Apple's M3 chip would have a 40-core CPU on last month. By comparison, the M1 chip has an 8-core CPU, while the M1 Pro and M1 Max chips have a 10-core CPU.

Macs with the M1 offered industry-leading energy efficiency, and the A15 chip in the iPhone 13 series of smartphones is the fastest smartphone processor ever, and the shift to 3-nanometer chip technology over the next few years should solidify Apple leading position in this field.
